The interior design aesthetic of Empress is a sophisticated blend of historical elegance and contemporary refinement. Drawing from the rich heritage of Indian artistry, the space features intricate wood panelling and ceilings adorned with ornate carvings, evoking a sense of timeless craftsmanship. Partitioning screens, or jalis, intricately designed to diffuse light, create a soft, ethereal glow during the day, transforming into patterned reflections in the evening.
The muted, earthy palette of sandstone, taupe, and ivory is brought to life through luxurious fabrics adorned with delicate hand woven embroidery, including floral and paisley motifs in subtle metallic hues. These elements, combined with an overall neutral and natural colour scheme, provide a tranquil backdrop that allows the vibrant, aromatic dishes emerging from the kitchen to be the focal point, embodying the diverse and rich flavours of Indian culinary tradition.
